Etcetera: What’s Akhil’s next? - The Hindu

KR Vijaya in Dhanush 5aam Vaguppu

Known by her fans as Punnagai Arasi (‘Queen of Smile’), veteran actress K.R. Vijaya returns to play a prominent role in the upcoming film titled Dhanush 5 aam Vaguppu. Vijaya, along with Saroja Devi, are among the living legends  who had starred opposite the celebrated and legendary trio of MGR, Sivaji Ganesan and Gemini Ganesan in the sixties and seventies.
KR Vijaya was last spotted in the Telugu hit film Sri Rama Rajyam which had Nayanthara and Balakrishna in lead roles. Close to two years have elapsed since 74-year old had been to a shooting schedule of a film. But the proud moment is it has been 50 long years since Vijaya debuted as heroine in veteran K.S. Gopalakrishnan’s Karpagam way back in 1963 in which she played the title role.
Dhanush 5 aam Vaguppu would be produced by Dr. Ilangovan on behalf of his K.V. Cine Arts. Ilangovan would also be penning story and dialogue besides directing the film. Akhil (of Kalloori fame) plays the male lead in the film opposite newcomer Ashrita. The script is about the occurrences in a typical middle class family consisting of working parents, the egoistic clashes between them and how it affects children’s growth.
Thirumavalavan, has penned the film’s screenplay. Vijaya, who was narrated the script, immediately agreed to star in the film which also has the ever-improving Meenal, ‘Nizhalgal’ Ravi and Ilangovan himself in prominent roles.
Sam D. Raj has scored the film’s music. Yugabharathi, Vivega, Mohanraj & Meenachi sundaram had done the lyrics. G. Sivasankaran has cinematographed the film whose shoot has been wrapped up after the Unit shot in picturesque locations in Hogenakkal, Palacode and Rayakkottai. The post-production work is going on at present and the film is likely to release in the next few weeks’ time.
